In 2002 a short novel about a fabled people (complete with history, mythology and language samples) (Onaevia), began a trilogy that led to Song of the Brakeman (2006). His latest novel Enclosures is a collection of related stories of different genres. Bill was the 2010 Michael King Writer in Residence in Devonport, Auckland.
